DESCRIPTION:(image: against-antimuslim-racism.jpeg width: 70%)\nJoin us fo
r an evening of discussion\, reflection\, music\, and community against an
ti-Muslim racism in Germany. As racism and far-right politics continue to
intensify across Europe\, this event brings together speakers\, organizers
\, and community members to explore how anti-Muslim racism shapes politics
 \, state policy\, feminism\, migration\, Palestine solidarity\, and public
life in Germany today — while also asking how we can build collective r
esistance and meaningful solidarity across communities.\n\nAccording to DW
 \, over 3\,000 anti-Muslim incidents were recorded in Germany in 2024. A 6
0% rise from 2023. According to CLAIM\, 9 out of 10 incidents are never re
ported. Muslims are 4 times more likely to live in poverty. 72% of Muslims
live with racist discrimination. 50% of Germans agree with anti-Muslim st
atements. The AfD is now the second largest party. The numbers are expecte
d to get worse in 2026. Join us for four inputs addressing different angle
s of antimuslim racism in Germany.\n\n### Muslims and the Left by Mohammed
from Black Radicals\nWhy is the Left unable to foster solidaristic ties w
ith the Muslim working class? Since the 1960s\, the question of race and r
esistance has plagued the Left. Today\, the increase in migration has forc
ed the Left to engage questions of race with some seriousness. Mohamed wil
l outline the history of immigrants and the Left in Germany\, and how this
history affects us today. Importantly\, what lessons we can learn\, and w
hat should the future of the German Left look like?\n\n### Feminism from a
Muslim Perspective by Mai from Tadamun\nMai will speak about how Muslim w
omen are always considered the victims in the west. While the well intenti
oned may think that this is intersectional feminism and that they are just
thinking about the poor oppressed Muslim woman. This mostly perpetuates o
rientalist stereotypes and dehumanizes Muslims\, both women and men and we
stern states have used this narrative to justify its wars and genocides in
the last few decades.\n\n### Antisemitism\, Islam and Palestine by Rand\n
Rand will speak about how Muslims and Arabs in Europe are pictured as inhe
rently antisemitic through state policies\, education programs\, and polit
ical discourse. This radicalization combined with the weaponization of ant
isemitism act as silencing tool against Palestinian and pro Palestinian mo
vement in Germany.\n\n### The German State and Racism Against Muslims by Z
enobya from Black Radicals\nHow should we understand the German state and
anti Muslim racism? Is the state really just a rationale actor that acts a
ccording to its self-interest\, making the question of immigration and bor
ders just a rational calculation? Or does race play a more central role? H
ow can we understand the German state’s obsession with Muslims? Should a
nti-racist resistance be against the AfD or is it against the state itself
? Zenobya will join us to answer these timely questions\, as the AfD is po
ised to lead in the next elections.\n\n### Jam Session with "Café Aman Fr
eiburg"\nFrom 8 PM\, we invite you to wind down the evening together with
acoustic music.\nAs part of the concert series "Café Aman Freiburg\," cur
ated by Ahmed Abdelali\, an open jam session will take place. Café Aman F
reiburg is a new nomadic concert and jam session series dedicated to the m
odal music traditions of Greece\, Turkey\, the Maghreb\, and the Eastern M
editerranean.\nTogether we dive into these soundscapes\, meet one another\
, learn from each other (songs and rhythms) and let new musical spaces eme
rge. The acoustic jam session is open to all.\nPlease bring your own instr
uments. Come by and become part of this special evening.\n\nSources:\nhttp
